With their white blossoms, daisies conjure up summer in the garden. However, the summer bloomers do not always have to be white. Because yellow and pink daisies are also excellent splashes of color in the garden.

Margeriten

Marguerites, botanically Leucanthemum, not only shine with their flowers, but can also be cultivated in tubs. The summer bloomers can be used in many different ways. The range of daisy species seems to be correspondingly large. However, not every plant that is commercially available belongs to the daisies, even if it looks very similar to daisies. In contrast to many other plants, there is also the fact that the botanical name of daisies is not always uniform. This means that there are various scientific synonyms for the plant. For example, the marguerite species “Leucanthemum maximum” is also called “Chrysanthemum maximum”.

In addition, various summer bloomers are called daisies, which botanically do not belong to the genus Leucanthemum. These usually include:

  • Kapmargerite (Osteospermum)
  • Strauchmargerite (Argyranthemum frutescens)
  • Bunte Margerite (Chrysanthemum coccineum)
  • Colorful marguerite species

Varieties of daisies that do not have white flowers but multicolored flowers belong, with a few exceptions, to the species Leucanthemum superbum (Leucanthemum x superbum). However, it must be noted in advance that when it comes to daisies, the term “colorful” refers to the color yellow and a little pink.
