Plant pallets
When we talk about pallet planting, we are talking about vertical installation. Of course, horizontal planting would also be possible, but this would make little sense. When planted, the pallet should serve as a privacy screen, partition or to cover a wall or house wall. Therefore, when setting up the pallet, the following instructions must be observed:
- always with the long side down
- set up vertically
- the back looks to the front
- close the divisions from below
- by a screwed-on board
- may come from a second pallet
- this is how flower boxes are made
- the subdivisions are not closed
- Attach flower pots
Paint pallets colorful
Not everyone just wants a simple wood look, so the palette can also be painted in bright colors. The wood definitely needs a coat of paint because it will be exposed to a lot of weather outside. This can be done as follows:
- weatherproof, environmentally friendly glaze or varnish
- transparent varnish preserves the original look
- colored lacquer can also be used
- different colors for each subdivision
- Allow paint to dry completely
Fasten pallet
Depending on how and where the pallet is to be set up, here are various tips for fastening and stabilizing it:
- screw to wall
- place diagonally against the wall
- usually does not require any attachment
- prevent slipping with stones
- Saw two boards of the same length
- Screw diagonally to the left and right under the pallet
- can be set up as a partition
possibilities of design
If the palette has been prepared so far, then there are various ways to shape and plant it:
- Fill the manufactured balcony boxes with soil
- use them as a whole
- put pots with plants in balcony boxes
- faster exchange guaranteed
- hang colorful planted metal pots on the boards
- Decorate lanterns or fairy lights
- insert other small decorative items
- put between the pots
- or stick it in the balcony box in the ground

All hanging plants, which also come into their own in a hanging basket, can also be very decorative. These are always planted offset in the boxes along the flower wall from top to bottom. This prevents one or the other plant from overhanging. The following hanging plants are well suited here:
- Bavarian geranium hanging geraniums (Pelargonium peltatum)
- Ivy (Hedera)
- Fan flower (Scaevola)

- Pfennigkraut (Lysimachia nummularia)

Vertical herb garden
If there is little space on a balcony, then a pallet is ideal as a vertical herb garden. The advantage of this is that it not only looks decorative, but also that all your favorite herbs are directly available for use in the kitchen. This is how the following herbs can find a place on a pallet:
- Basilikum (Ocimum basilicum)
- Mint (Mentha)
- Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
- Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
- Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)
- Thymian (Thymus vulgaris)

So that not so much space is needed here and the seating furniture can also find a place, the cultivation of different types of vegetables and fruit is also possible vertically in a pallet:
- Strawberries (Fragaria)
- Gartenkresse (Identification)
- Radish (Raphanus sativus)
- Salad (various types)
- Spinat (Spinacia oleracea)
