What goes with lavender? | 26 companion plants

Lavender brings color to any garden bed. With the right companion plants as plant neighbours, it can be even more effective. Below is a small list of the best neighbors. However, there are a few things to consider.

Lavender likes it sunny

The real lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a real eye-catcher in the garden with its blue to violet panicles of flowers. The subshrub can be planted individually or combined with other plants. The accompanying plants must have about the same requirements in terms of location, soil and care as lavender. Also includes

  • a sunny and warm location
  • a permeable, dry, rather nutrient-poor soil
  • somewhat sandy and gritty soil conditions
  • little water and fertilizer
  • no waterlogging, mainly in winter

Visually, plant neighbors in yellow, white or red to pink and purple colors go perfectly with the lavender. It is good to know in this context that “Lavandula” is quite tolerant of lime. Neighbors who need calcareous soil are also no problem.

Tip: Lavender also goes well with lavender itself. The shrub is available in blue-violet shades and also in white or pink.
